AS MADE FAMOUS 004 – wish you were gay – Billie Eilish

Now introducing "AS MADE FAMOUS" a brand new (weekly? bi-weekly? who cares) series in which we create bite-size covers of some of our favorite songs, always with a fresh take.

Here on the official TRZ Blog we’ll talk a little about our relationship with each song, why we chose it, and how the cover came to be.

Jord: I fought this song for a long time. I thought maybe Billie & co. were pandering and trying to use the LGBTQ movement for financial gain, so I groaned when I saw the title. But once I listened closely, it’s obvious the song is really about unrequited love and looking for any excuse to mask the devastating feeling of not being wanted, a premise that comes across in a much more honest way. Not to mention, the production is UNREAL. So Damn Clean. In fact, I bought my current interface and mic setup because I read it’s what they used on this album lol.

I’m still waiting for the Billie stans to find this and rip me to shreds for defaming a beloved song. I turned it into a bouncy pop-rock song, and it’s wayyy more fun than the song should ever be.
